In the public sector, Andrew is primarily involved in complex HPB cancer surgery, managing patients with advanced and challenging hepatobiliary conditions.

In private practice, he provides comprehensive general surgical care, including assessment of abdominal pain, bowel habit change, rectal bleeding, hernias, and routine anorectal conditions.

Andrew has held a joint appointment with Te Whatu Ora Southern and the Otago Medical School since 2007, where he plays an active role in surgical education. His roles include:
Convenor, fourth-year medical student surgical attachment
Regular teaching of third- and sixth-year medical students
Former Supervisor of General Surgical Training, Dunedin Hospital

He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Hepatobiliary Association
Community Involvement
From 2008 to 2022, Andrew provided satellite clinics at Dunstan Hospital. He is keen to re-establish connections with Central Otago patients and GPs, a community he has greatly valued serving.
